Mangal Dwaar

This piece is a traditional Pichhvai toran created especially for a Gujarati home. On either side, the words “Shubh” and “Labh” reinforce the purpose of the toran, where it, at the entrance carries a sense of auspiciousness, welcome and celebration. The client envisioned an intricate, highly detailed custom piece for their entrance, and every element has been thoughtfully composed to bring together tradition, devotion and colour.

At the centre sits Shrinathji, making Him the heart of the toran. His elaborate shringaar is rendered with painstaking detail and has a joyous, celebratory quality that evokes the beauty of Rajbhog or Shringar Aarti. The vibrant pinks, greens, oranges, yellows and reds add an uplifting energy to the piece. The minute linework and detailing are what truly bring this piece alive; even at a glance, there is so much to discover.
